Catlin was among the first artists to bring images of the American West to the world. His documentation of the Native American peoples is an important historical account of cultures, traditions, and ways of life from the early nineteenth century. In O-Jib-Be-Ways, the artist rendered ten portraits from this tribe with profiles of the same individuals.
