Engaged in silent conversation, three anonymous women reveal the theme of storytelling in their intimate gathering. Chairs pulled close, we know the women are familiar-possibly sharing the same street in their neighborhood, or even relatives navigating familial matters. The viewer becomes a bystander in the discussion unfolding between the figures. The impasto Thomas uses reinforces their presence by introducing an expressive, almost three-dimensional quality to his work.
