Born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico, Marcelo Valle Aispuro is a painter, sculptor, and printmaker who teaches at the Sinaloa Center for Contemporary Arts. Prior to his appointment, he taught at the José Limón School of Art. In 1989, Aispuro helped to establish the printmaking department at the School of Visual Arts at the Autonomous National University of Mexico where he was a student. He has participated in more than 150 group exhibitions in Mexico, Spain, Holland, Colombia, and the United States. Recently, Aispuro worked with master painter Ernesto Rios to create a large mural at the Mazatlan Convention Center. Third Rock from the Sun is indicative of Airpuro's interest to "free himself from the figure to address abstraction."
