Not only is it important to look at King's lithographs as works of art, but also to understand the historical subjects depicted. Meta-Koosega or Pure Tobacco, was a Chippewa (Ojibway) leader recorded as tall with a stern countenance. Known as a jossekeed or medicine worker, he was well respected among his people.
