Born on the Blackfoot Reservation of Montana, Lone Wolf experienced the American West firsthand. After some formal art training, he set up a studio in a tipi at the Grand Canyon and Glacier National Parks where he painted landscapes unique to anywhere in the world. In 1919 he completed this version of the Grand Canyon that exemplifies the awe-inspiring geology of the earth.
