Kachina dolls embody characteristics of the ceremonial Kachina, the masked spirits of the Hopi people. These dolls were originally given to children to be treasured or used for study. This is a "borrowed" Kachina, meaning that the spirit being has origins from the Zuni, the Hopi's nearest pueblo neighbors. It has been incorporated into the Hopi Kachina culture. |
