Didactic Information |
In early 1990s, Tucson photographer Amy Zuckerman traveled throughout Mexico while studying Spanish. There she documented the poor-living, working, and praying-to bring a sense of humanity to this community. In particular, she was impressed by the strong sense of devotion she witnessed in the churches and personal altars. In this work, an elderly man prays before a glass-covered altar almost obscured by personal tributes and a prominent donation box. Still, his solemnity and reverence reveals his deeply rooted faith.
