Didactic Information |
Acheff is known for highly realistic still lifes of Native American artifacts, mainly of the Taos Pueblo. "Artifacts and traditions of the past," he explains, "seem to hold more mystical and aesthetic value than those of contemporary times." Try a new way of looking at the painting. With your hand make an "O" shape and put it up to your eye like a telescope. Without getting too close, focus on one small area of the piece. Are the brushstrokes large or small? How many colors are noticeable in this space? |
